Some general craftiness:
This is built out of fanned circles in gradually smaller sizes to make a tree.(imagine the festive colors and patterns)
Paper rosette tutorial.
Adjustments have to be made for the larger size rosettes.
Make each layer using paper strips 1/2 inch wider than the one above.

This one is covered with pages from a book (could be sheet music) with flower accents.
This one is understated enough with twine wrapping that it could be left up all year.It could also be done with yarn.
